The best tip tracker apps for servers and bartenders in 2026
The best tip tracker apps for servers and bartenders, compared on voice logging, tip pool splits, exports, ads, pricing and where your data lives.
The best tip tracker app logs cash and card tips separately, takes off tip-out, and shows your real hourly rate. Tipling, which we make, is the only one here whose listing offers voice entry. Server44 and TipKeepr are strong on tip-outs, and ServerLife is the most-reviewed on iPhone. Pick by phone, what's free, and whether you need exports.
Full disclosure: Tipling is our app, so we've put it first and explained what it does differently. Every other app is described only by what its own store listing says.
The longer answer
Nearly every tip tracker handles the basics. You enter tonight's cash and card tips, your hours and your wage, and it shows take-home and an hourly rate.
What separates them is how much effort logging takes at 1am, what's free versus paid, and whether there are ads. After that, check what people only think about later: a PDF or spreadsheet for tax time, and where your records are kept.
Records that live only on your phone stay private, but they go with the phone unless you back them up. Everything below comes from each app's App Store or Google Play page, checked on October 27, 2026. Listings change, so look again before you pay.
What Tipling does that the others don't
We went through all seven listings looking for features no one else mentions. Four stood out.
You can say the shift instead of typing it
Tap the mic and say something like "dinner shift, 6 hours, 120 cash, 85 card, tipped out 15". Tipling fills in the shift for you to check before saving. Keep talking after a pause and it adds to what you said. None of the other six listings mention voice entry at all.
This is a Pro feature and works in English. When an amount isn't clear, Tipling leaves that field empty rather than guessing, and you check every field before it's saved.
It splits the tip pool, then logs your share
Enter what's in the pool and each person's hours, and Tipling works out everyone's share. You can split by hours or equally for free. With Pro you can also split by role points (server 1, busser 0.5, for example) and take tip-outs to the kitchen or bar off the top first.
Then send the split to the team, and start a shift log with your share already filled in. TipKeepr also splits tips, but as a team tip binder. Tipling's version ends in your own shift record.
A penguin keeps you company, and the safe shows what you've earned
A penguin waiter runs a small café on your home screen. Tap it and it talks; on your days off it's asleep. Every log adds coins to the tip jar and a stamp to your card, and the café gains new things as you go.
Ten stamps seal a jar and it goes into the safe, where jars turn into bills, gold bars and gems over time. Open the safe and it shows everything you've earned so far and the hours you've worked, all in one place.
A slow Tuesday counts the same as a big Saturday, and a day off counts too.
TipIsServed, the only other app with a reward system, uses badges for winning streaks. Miss a few days in Tipling and nothing breaks.
The forecast includes shifts you haven't worked yet
The home screen estimates the month's take-home from your recent pace plus the shifts on your schedule (planning shifts is part of Pro). ServerLife also projects a month-end total, from your history. Tipling counts what's already planned.
Everything else Tipling does for servers
Those four are the headline. Here's the rest, grouped by what you'd use it for.
More than one job, position or section
Add each place you work, then the positions (server, bartender, host), shift types (lunch, dinner, double) and sections or areas you rotate through. You can add a new one right from the logging screen.
Give a job or a position its own hourly wage and it fills in for you. Give a shift type its usual start and end times and those fill in too. The free version covers two jobs; Pro removes the limit.
A schedule that goes into your phone's calendar (Pro)
Plan shifts and days off ahead, and set any of them to repeat every week. Skip one date, stop a repeat from a given week, or delete the whole series.
Turn on calendar sync and your planned shifts show up in your phone's calendar with an alert before each one: the iPhone calendar (iCloud, Google and others) or Google Calendar on Android. On the day, tap "Log it" and the shift opens already filled in from the plan.
Every number, every month
Stats break your money down by week, month, year or any dates you pick, as a bar chart or a running line, with last period shown as a dashed line next to it. Each view gives you this period, the one before, and the difference.
There are more than 20 things you can chart: take-home, cash tips, card tips, tip-out, tip-in, wages, hours, hourly rate, earnings per shift, sales, tip percentage, covers, tips per cover, miles and deliveries among them. Filter any of it by job, position, shift type or section, and see which day of the week pays you best.
Compare jobs, shifts and sections side by side (Pro)
Line up two jobs, lunch against dinner, or the patio against the bar, and see where your hours earn the most. You can also compare any month with the same month last year.
Calendar, goals and reminders
A month calendar shows what you took home each day, with days off and planned shifts marked. Tap a day to fix an entry or add one you forgot.
Set a weekly, monthly or savings goal (rent, a trip) and Tipling shows your progress and when you'll get there at your current pace. Free covers one goal; Pro allows more. An optional daily reminder nudges you to log.
Paychecks, reports and backups
Log paychecks and days off next to your shifts so the totals match what you were actually paid. At tax time, the PDF income report (Pro) gives totals, a breakdown by job, a month-by-month table and a daily record of your tips, and you can export any dates as a CSV. On Android, free users can watch a short video to export once.
Back up to a file whenever you like; restoring keeps a copy of your current data first. On iPhone, iCloud keeps a copy for you. Tipling handles 50 currencies.

The apps, one by one
Tipling (ours)
A shift can hold cash and card tips, tip-out, tip-in, hours, wage, sales, covers, miles and deliveries, and you hide whatever you don't use. See everything Tipling does above; the yearly Pro plan starts with a 7-day free trial.
Server44 (Tip Tracker + Pay)
If you tip out the same people every night, Server44 does it well. You set rules once, with templates for the bartender, busser, host, kitchen, food runner, barback and expo, as a percentage of cash, card or both. Every shift then works itself out.
It shows your true hourly rate, exports PDF and CSV, follows your pay periods, and estimates net pay with federal and state tax calculations. Data stays on your phone with no account. Pro adds unlimited jobs and longer history, drops the ads, and has a 3-day trial. On iPhone it shows up as "Tip Tracker - Tips45".
TipKeepr
TipKeepr is built around running the end-of-night tip-out. Its "tip binder" lets you split tips, build tip sheets, collect a digital signature when someone picks up their share, and send PDF tip sheets to the team.
For your own money it logs tips, paychecks and hours, tracks your average hourly rate, and makes a yearly tax summary PDF. It also says it can import data from another tip tracker.
ServerLife
iPhone only, with about 9,900 ratings at 4.8 stars on the check date, far more than anything else here. Logging hours is free.
The server-specific parts sit in Premium: separate cash and credit tips, tip-out and tip-in, multiple jobs, a work schedule. There are monthly, six-month and yearly Premium options and a paid ad removal. Data backs up to the cloud by itself. Exports aren't mentioned.
TipIsServed
A lot comes free: unlimited entries, shift planning, cloud backup and PDF exports, along with calendar sync and widgets. The catch is ads. Pro removes them and adds CSV export and more jobs, or you can unlock features by watching ads.
It advertises a monthly tip report as a Form 4070 PDF, plus a tax estimator. The IRS's Publication 531 on reporting tip income now calls Forms 4070 and 4070A historical.
The reporting itself hasn't gone away. Per Publication 531, tips of $20 or more in a month from any one job get reported to that employer by the 10th of the next month. Your employer may have its own system for this, so ask what they use.
TipSee Elite (Android) and TipSee (iPhone)
The basic option. TipSee Elite logs cash and card tips, wages and tip-outs, shows a calendar, and keeps everything on your phone with automatic backup options. Multiple jobs and advanced reporting are in the full TipSee app.
The Elite description calls the app ad-free, yet its Google Play page shows the "Contains ads" label. Check on your own phone before counting on either.
TipNest
Android only, with 10+ downloads on the check date. Free covers unlimited logging and your whole history. Pro adds the true hourly rate, a breakdown by section, shift type and weekday, and CSV export.
Tip-out goes in as an amount or a percentage, and pooled houses get a toggle. Entries save offline and sync once you're back online. The listing says no ads.
Which one fits you
| If you... | Tipling | Also look at |
|---|---|---|
| Hate typing numbers after a long shift | Say the shift instead (Pro) | None of the others list voice entry |
| Split a tip pool and want your share logged | Splits the pool and starts a log with your share | TipKeepr, for running it as a team tip binder |
| Keep forgetting to log | A daily reminder, plus a penguin and café that reward every log with no streak to break | TipKeepr and Server44 have log reminders |
| Work more than one job, position or section | Tracks each one, with side-by-side comparisons (Pro) | Server44, TipKeepr |
| Want planned shifts in your phone's calendar | Schedule with calendar sync and alerts (Pro) | TipIsServed |
| Tip out the same roles every shift | Records tip-out each shift, and takes tip-outs off the top of a pool (Pro) | Server44 works tip-outs out from rules you set once |
| Care most about free features and can live with ads | Free covers logging, stats, calendar, forecast, the café, pool splits by hours and backups; banner ad on Android | TipIsServed |
| Need no account and something simple | No sign-up, and you hide the fields you don't use | TipSee Elite / TipSee, Server44 |
| Use an iPhone today | Coming soon | ServerLife, the most-reviewed |
| Want your entries synced online | Not on Android: backups are a file you save | TipNest, ServerLife, TipIsServed |
When a spreadsheet is enough
One job, a flat tip-out, and a weekly sit-down anyway? A spreadsheet will do. Columns for date, cash, card, tip-out, hours and wage, plus a formula for take-home and one for hourly rate, cover the basics.
Apps earn their place when you'd rather log in the parking lot, when tip-out changes every night, or when you want charts and a year-end report without building them.
In the US, Publication 531 asks employees to keep a daily record of tips and treats all tips as income. For the math behind the hourly figure, see how to work out your real hourly rate as a server.
Where Tipling fits
Tipling suits people who'd rather talk than type after a shift (with Pro), split pools often, or keep forgetting to log and want something that doesn't keep score.
There's no sign-up, and your records stay on your phone. The one exception is voice logging: the words you say go to our server to be read and aren't stored.
It doesn't connect to your bank, payroll or the restaurant's POS. It doesn't calculate tax or file anything either; the PDF report (Pro) is a record for whoever does your taxes.
Other limits: the free Android version shows a banner ad, Android backups are a file you save yourself, and the iPhone version isn't out yet. See everything on the Tipling home page.
FAQ
Is there a tip tracker app I can talk to?
Tipling is the only one of these seven whose listing mentions it. Tap the mic, say the shift, and check what it filled in before saving. It's part of Tipling Pro and works in English.
Is there a free tip tracker app?
Yes. Every app here is free to download, and most let you log shifts for free. What differs is what's paid: exports, multiple jobs, ad removal, longer history. On ServerLife, separate cash and card tips are Premium.
Which tip tracker works on both iPhone and Android?
On the check date, Server44 (called Tips45 on iPhone), TipKeepr and TipIsServed had listings on both stores. TipSee has a separate app on each. ServerLife is iPhone only, TipNest is Android, and Tipling is on Android with iPhone coming soon.
Can a tip tracker app do my taxes?
None of these file your taxes. Some estimate tax or produce reports for you or a tax preparer. Treat a built-in estimate as a rough guide and check the IRS pages linked above for the actual rules.
What happens to my data if I lose my phone?
ServerLife and TipIsServed back up to the cloud, and TipNest syncs online. On-device apps such as Server44, TipSee and Tipling on Android only have what you backed up, so set a backup up in your first week.
Tipling is free on Android, and voice logging comes with Pro (the yearly plan has a 7-day free trial): get Tipling on Google Play.
